Both the climbers trapped on the Chaukhambha track were rescued safely

Uttrakhand .On the evening of 03 October 2024, Disaster Management Department Chamoli received information through Indian Mountaineering Foundation that 02 climbers (01 USA, 01 UK) are trapped at an altitude of 6015 meters in Chaukhambha mountain under the district, who have to be rescued immediately through helicopter.

In the sequence of information received from IMF, all concerned were alerted and the Indian Air Force was requested to evacuate the said stranded citizens safely. With the cooperation of Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority, Disaster Management Department Chamoli, Indian Air Force and SDRF Uttarakhand and other departments, immediate rescue operation was started from 04 October 2024. On the third day of the rescue operation today, dated 06 October 2024, both the said climbers have been rescued safely.
