Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired the district and inter-departmental review meeting of Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA), Uttarakhand at the Secretariat on Monday.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed all the departments to take the ongoing schemes under SARRA seriously. He said that within the next 15 days, the pending works in the districts should be tested and the report should be sent to the government, and the outcome of the works which have been completed on the ground should be presented along with the figures.

He said that work should also be done towards recharging the hand pumps lying defunct within the state. Groundwater should be recharged through defunct hand pumps, for which an action plan should be made and implemented. He said that the hand pumps which have completely dried up till last year in the state should also be counted.
The Additional Chief Secretary said that for the treatment of critical water sources, springshed and recharge areas should be identified and demarcated through scientific method. Along with water conservation, special attention should also be paid to water quality. He said that appropriate recharge measures should be adopted keeping in view the geographical situation. He said that the works identified by the Drinking Water Corporation, Jal Sansthan, Irrigation and Minor Irrigation Department should be expedited with mutual coordination. And technical study of every scheme should be done.
During this meeting, it was told that a total of 78 critical water sources have been identified under the state by the Drinking Water Corporation and a total of 415 critical water sources have been identified by the Jal Sansthan, on which work is in progress at various levels.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Executive Officer (SARRA) Neena Grewal, IFS R.K Mishra, Additional Secretary Garima BK Tiwari HOD Minor Irrigation and other officers were present.
