108 assistant professors will get immediate deployment in higher education…Dr Dhan Singh Rawat

Dehradun .(20 September 2024) 108 more assistant professors of various subjects will be soon posted in the Higher Education Department of the state. All the selected teachers will be given first appointment in the government colleges of the hilly and inaccessible area of the state. While the appointment of assistant professors in the colleges of remote areas will remove the shortage of teachers, the academic activities will be conducted smoothly. Necessary instructions have been given to the departmental officers for the early deployment of the selected assistant professors.

The Higher Education Minister of the state, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that the state government is engaged in the reform of higher education. In view of which, concrete efforts are being made to overcome the shortage of teachers along with the availability of infrastructural facilities in all the government colleges of the state.

He informed that 108 more assistant professors of various subjects selected by the State Public Service Commission will soon be posted in various government colleges located in the hilly and inaccessible areas of the state. Which includes 22 Assistant Professors in Political Science, 16 in Zoology, 26 in Chemistry Department, 15 in Geography and 29 in Hindi. In this regard, the departmental officers have been asked to speed up the appointment process. Dr. Rawat said that the deployment of these Assistant Professors selected by the Commission will not only remove the shortage of teachers in the colleges of remote areas but will also improve the educational activities.

The students will get the benefit of this at the local level and they will not have to wander in the metros to get higher education. Apart from this, the deployment of teachers will also bring improvements in the NAAC grading of colleges. The departmental minister said that 100% of the teacher posts in the Higher Education Department will be filled soon. For this, the department had earlier sent a requisition to the State Public Service Commission for recruitment to 455 posts of Assistant Professors in various subjects.

Out of which, the Commission has provided the list of 248 selected Assistant Professors of about 20 subjects to the department, while the selection process for the remaining 207 posts is in progress. Dr. Rawat said that the state government is constantly making efforts for educational quality in higher education.
