Dehradun. (14 September 2024) Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, submitted a demand letter in the interest of the public to the Chief Minister of the state Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding one of the major problems of the Bhabar region of Kotdwar.

Farming, animal husbandry, horticulture and orchards have been the main means of livelihood for the farmers of the Bhabar region under the Kotdwar Assembly for a long time. Due to the current residential buildings and commercialization of agricultural land, the sources of income of the farmers dependent on farming are getting exhausted.

Ritu Khanduri said that after the inclusion of Kotdwar Bhabar area in the Municipal Corporation, most of the area or agricultural land has come under the purview of the Municipal Corporation, due to which the farmers of this area are not able to get the benefit of subsidy, discounts and other facilities related to farmers given by the government in various items like the rural area.

Ritu Khanduri Bhushan demanded from the Chief Minister that farmers should get all the government benefits as before and also demanded that even if the municipal corporation delimitation is expanded, the agricultural sector should be kept intact under any circumstances.
