The speaker of the assembly participated in the annual general meeting of the National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Kotdwar, (06 September 2024)Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker and regional MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan attended the “Annual General Meeting” held at Sukhron Padampur in Kotdwar as the Chief Guest. This important event was organized under the joint aegis of Udaan Autonomous Cooperative National Rural Livelihood Mission and Collaborative Project Gramin Udyam Vegvriddhi.

During the Annual General Meeting, the Assembly Speaker took a close look at the stalls set up by self-help groups. These stalls displayed diverse products manufactured by the groups such as handicrafts, food items, and other local textiles. The Speaker visited each stall and checked the quality of the products and appreciated the efforts of the groups. He interacted with the members of the groups and listened to their experiences, which gave an opportunity to know their problems and suggestions.

During the address, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan highlighted the importance of self-help groups and said, “Self-help groups are the foundation of rural development. These groups are not only helpful in generating employment at the local level but also play an important role towards women empowerment and economic self-reliance. Through these groups, we can further accelerate the pace of development in rural areas.”

She also appreciated the schemes being run by the government for women. The Assembly Speaker said, “The government has launched several schemes to empower the social and economic status of women. The aim of these schemes is to make women self-reliant and provide them economic opportunities.”

She also emphasized the need for additional training and resources to the groups to improve product quality and in the field of economic literacy. She also shared information about the schemes and assistance available for these groups from the government and advised them to take full advantage of these schemes.

During this, BD Raturi, BDO Incharge Dixit Joshi, BDO were present. Sonia Aswal, Lakshmi Negi, Sunita Kala etc. were present.
