Meta’s whip on objectionable content, 2.1 crore content removed from Facebook and Instagram

New Delhi, IANS. Meta removed more than 1.56 crore objectionable content from Facebook and more than 58 lakh from Instagram in India in May. In May, Facebook received 22,251 reports through the Indian complaint mechanism. Facebook provided tools to users to resolve issues in 13,982 cases during May.

Action taken on objectionable content

These included pre-established channels to report content for any violations, facility to download your data, help in case of account hacking, etc. Of the other 8,269 reports where special review was required, Meta said it analyzed them in accordance with its policies and took action on 5,583 complaints. The remaining 2,686 complaints were reviewed but not acted upon.

Action based on report

  1. Indian company on Instagram 14,373 reports were received through the complaint mechanism. Of these, in 7,300 cases, users were provided assistance to resolve the issue. Of the other 7,073 reports where review was required, content analysis was conducted and action was taken on 4,172 complaints. The remaining 2,901 reports were reviewed but no action was taken.
