Now 50 percent subsidy on electricity usage up to 100 units

Dehradun. In continuation of the announcement made by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on September 16, 2024, a government order has been issued regarding providing subsidy in electricity tariff to the domestic category electricity consumers of the state. According to the government order issued by Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, subsidy in electricity tariff will be provided to electricity consumers in the state of Uttarakhand as follows.

Such domestic category electricity consumers of snow-covered area whose monthly electricity consumption is up to 200 units will be provided 50 percent subsidy in the applicable electricity rates (including electricity tax). The benefit of the scheme will be provided only after determining the snow-covered area on the basis of the height above sea level of the concerned area as per the prevailing rules.

Such domestic category consumers of other areas whose contracted electricity load is up to 1 kilowatt and monthly electricity consumption is up to 100 units will be provided 50 percent subsidy in electricity rates (including electricity tax). This subsidy will be permissible on electricity consumption made from September 01, 2024.

The state government is working keeping in mind the public interest. The decision to subsidize electricity bills has been taken with the aim of providing relief to the economically weaker and middle class families of the state. This will reduce the financial burden on the citizens of the state and encourage proper consumption of energy. Consumers of mountainous snow-covered areas will get special relief.
